How to cut business expenses cut business expenses in a difficult economy

What do you really need? Just like in your home, you can cut down expenses in this recession by spending only on what you need.

  - Turn off utility guzzlers you aren't using.
  - Recycle paper, folders and other materials.
  - Cut down on postage and communicate by internet when applicable.
  - Limit unnecessary cell phone use.

What can you do yourself? Don't hire someone for something you can do yourself -- so long as you have the time.

-

Do your own cleaning or repairs

-

If you have employees, reward them for productivity.

-

Look at hiring extra help at a lower wage IF your time is filled with high-earning productivity.

Use technology to save expenses in a recession!

-

Promote your business with inexpensive blogs, websites and links.

-

Use free software like Google and MS Office to handle organization.

-

Buy software that will pay back in saved time and money like a good accounting software or an industry-specific program that will guide your business to running more efficiently.

Don't cut the important things! You need to keep your business visible so keep on advertising and promoting. But look for ways to do it economically:

-

Send out press releases for any newsworthy item.

-

Change newsletters to email based as opposed to printed.

-

Check for discount advertising.

Keep promotional materials simple and produce what you can in-house.

Technical Tips for FRX - Time Savers in Building a Row Format

  1. TimeSaver #1 - in the row format, did you realize you can copy and paste to or from an excel file?

  2. TimeSaver #2 - User menu item edit, add rows from chart of accounts to have FRX financial reporting build a row format for you based on the accounts that are included in your general ledger.

  3. Remember the golden rule: The number of "hooks" (ampersands) in the tree must agree with the number of digits in the row.
